New Zealand Infantryman, Crete 1941 by AnAspieInPoland New Zealand Infantryman, Crete 1941 by AnAspieInPoland
Well, that's pretty much it. Though perhaps it could be North Africa, too - if you get stubborn enough....

I've honestly always wanted to see a New Zealand uniform, thanks.

So this is New Zealand's uniform. It seems much plainer than a lot of other countries but I suppose it gets the job done.

Well, a 'Commonwealth uniform for the Mediterranean Region' is a better title. Because most of the Commonwealth soldiers wore the same uniforms- With bagdes stating the name of their country and some cultural differences making them distinguished from each other.
Like this one has a badge saying 'New Zealand' on the arm- But it could be India, Sudan, Egypt, Canada, even Poland.

Ah, I didn't know that the Commonwealth fought together as such a cohesive group. That's very interesting, and not something they really taught at school. Most of the focus always seemed to be on Australia and New Zealand.

Well, just look at what units created each of the British Army, Divisions and so on. You wouldn't believe how many fought the hardest part, while British only took the credit for victory.

Might the New Zealanders have worn this uniform back in the South Pacific as well?

I don't think. I think they wore a different type of a uniform. And I guess I know which one.

My grandfather served in New Guinea back in 1944, and I often wonder if he'd ever worked with any of the Commonwealth soldiers in that area.
